Glass Options

Low E Options

low e glass

Clear | Hard Coat Low E (3) - CLLE

This is a durable hard-coated low-emissivity glass that provides passive solar gain resulting in year-round cost savings. Used on the 3rd surface it maximizes energy efficiency in the colder Northern region climates, where heating is dominant and the greatest energy concern.

Soft Coat Low E (2) | Clear – SBCL

The soft-coated Low E glass provides solar heat control in moderate to warm climates. The neutral appearance and high level of natural light transmitted makes this glass ideal solution for homes where heating and cooling requirements vary throughout the year.

Hard Coat Low E (2) | Clear | Hard Coat Low E (5) - LECLLE

The additional 5th surface Low E technology on insulating glass units allows you to improve the performance of a unit by approximately 50-60%.  During cold conditions the coating on surface 2 reduces the heat lost from the airspace to the outside and the coating on surface 5 will reflect heat back into the room.

Soft Coat Low E (2) | Clear | Soft Coat Low E (5) - SBCLSB

The additional 5th surface Low E technology on insulating glass units allows you to improve the performance of a unit by approximately 50-60%.  During warm conditions the coating on surface 2 reflects solar energy outside and the coating on surface 5 will reflect heat back into the room during cold conditions.

Glass Spacer Options

Warm Edge Technology

Golden Windows uses only Warm Edge Technology (W.E.T) spacers in their windows.  Warm Edge Technology is a generic term for any spacer bar or system that has better thermal performance than a highly conductive aluminum spacer bar. The two W.E.T spacers that Golden Windows uses are the tin Intercept spacer and the Edgetech Superspacer.

Intercept®

The intercept spacer is a tin bar that is coated with butyl and holds panes of glass apart in a window. The butyl is used to keep the bar from touching the glass so its conductive properties are reduced. The butyl is also a vital component in maximizing argon gas retention in the sealed insul glass unit.

Superspacer®

The Superspacer helps to deliver windows of the highest standards. Superspacer is a non-metal structural foam spacer system that holds panes of glass apart in a window.  Superspacer has excellent resistance to nitrogen and argon gas absorption and it has high UV resistance. It has 100% memory meaning it will return to its original shape allowing for expansion and contraction, which is a major cause of stress fractures in conventional sealed units.
